It’s a magical story about a happily married couple, Cindy and Jim Green (Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton) who can’t wait to start a family but have tried unsuccessfully. They are devastated by the news that they have exhausted all possibilities to conceive a child. Now they can only dream about what their child would have been like. The Greens literally wish a child into existence when young Timothy (CJ Adams) shows up on their doorstep one stormy night… (He’s actually a magical plant grown child.)
“Sometimes the unexpected can bring some of life’s greatest gifts.”
Having watched the pre-screening of this film, I can only say this movie pulls at your heart strings. In fact, when I was asked if I would like to meet and interview Jennifer Garner, I jumped at the chance and off to Miami I went! You know Jennifer from Alias, Ghost of Girlfriends Past and many more! But you really know her for those great dimples in her cheeks and when she smiles she truly lights up the room.

I couldn’t wait to ask her about this film because it has such a magical element to it. I want the book to be right next to all my other favorite fairytale books on the shelf.
This was based on a story from producer Ahmet Zappa. Academy Award-nominated writer/directer Peter Hedges also penned the script and directed it.
You could take this film into a lot of different directions because of the adoption issues, but Jennifer and I kept it light and talked about the 50 thousand leaves that were hand painted to blend in with the color of the tree bark and applied to the existing branches so none were damaged as to create the different season, and Jennifer shared some of her most special moments in the film.
Another interesting movie fun fact was that hundreds of pencils were stamped with the Stanleyville name on their side, a detail you may never see on film but added to the realism of the film! (Two billion pencils are made in the USA each year, so these special pencils were just a drop in the bucket.)
I hope you love the movie as much as I did, and I know you will love this exclusive interview with the fabulous Jennifer Garner!
