“THE FAMILY”
As in protect the Family! This film has an all-star cast featuring Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Tommy Lee Jones, Dianne Agron, and John D’Leo and having Martin Scorsese as Executive Producer is certainly a plus.
The film is based on the novel “Malavita” by Tonino Benacquista.
It’s about a Brooklyn Mafia family who’s made a lot of enemies over the years; this mob action comedy stars Pfeiffer as the Matriarch and De Niro as the husband with two teenage kids (Dianna Agron, John D Leo).
Agent Stansfield (Tommy Lee Jones) puts the family in the witness protection program in a small French village in Normandy, France and is assigned to keeping them alive and keeping them in line. Despite the best efforts of Agent Stansfield, Fred Manzoni (Robert De Niro), his wife Maggie (Michelle Pfeiffer), and their children Belle (Dianna Agron) and Warren (John D’Leo) can’t help but revert to old habits and blow their cover by handling their problems the “family” way, enabling their former mafia cronies to track them down. Chaos ensues as old scores are settled in the unlikeliest of settings in this darkly funny film by Luc Besson (Taken, The Transporter).
They are definitely not only out of their element, but have trouble breaking old habits.
I never get tired of Mob stories!
